Level Playing Field, part 2

I served in one capacity after another for a majority of my life, starting with four years in the U.S Marine Corp at the age of 19. I served as a pastor for over 30 years. I served as a volunteer chaplain in the Wayne County Jail, Dickerson Detention Facility, Detroit Rescue Mission and the Detroit Police Department. I also prayed with a number of prayer groups both large and small.

Victim mentality

What I learned over this course of time is that there are always victims for one reason or another. Victims in the sense, that there are no jobs, can’t get a job. The system is unjust, unfair, racism, prejudices. I came across a Titok video where a man was raging against pastors and churches blaming them for not helping people in the streets.

I held worship services in the jails and homeless shelters. I bought into the lie that if people just knew that God would supply their needs, they would not have to be victims of an unjust system because God would supply their needs.

The Truth is

God put everyone on a level playing field. For example, Ephesians 2:4-7 says,

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13

I had a supervisor who always said, “The squeaky wheel gets the oil.” It seems like the people who make the loudest noise get the most attention.

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” Psalms 89:14

The truth is, no matter how bad things look, God is still in control. He destroyed the world through a flood because of wickedness and no doubt, he is able to destroy it again. I have seen a lot of rainbows lately. It is because of his mercies that we are not consumed.

You determine your own future

A large part of my walk with God was spent being in bondage to the system of man one way or another. For example, my financial situation didn’t change until I realized that I can determine my future through the seeds that I sow. I became debt-free in a matter of 17 months during a pandemic, paying off a mortgage and a credit card.

If you don’t like the fruit in your life, check the seed; what kind of seed are sowing?

‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:7-9

Matter of Justice

Im talking about justice in the sense of righting wrongs! One area that I’m seeking justice in is, the mafia tax, the excessively high auto insurance rates that are being forced upon us because Satan’s children are stealing cars and filing false insurance claims.

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always pray, and not faint; saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: and there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth.” Luke 18:1-8

We are beginning to reap justice in the matter of excessively high insurance rates. Michigan drivers just received $400.00 rebate per insured car from the insurance industry.

Grace and Peace!

“Faith will get you out the ship, but trusting God will get you to the other side of sea without sinking.”
