When I first came to faith in Jesus Christ many years ago, the Genesis account of creation seemed like a fantasy. I struggled through my earlier years. In debt, defeated and frustrated until I finally understood I had a choice, I could determine my destiny by the choices I made and the seed I sow.
As a younger believer, I studied the New Testament of the Bible. I also studied the Old Testament as well. My breakthrough came when I understood that Jesus was ministering to people who understood “covenant.” They were taught it, lived it.
As a Gentile believer, covenant was a foreign concept. I was born into a democratic capitalist constitutional governed land. I was taught the business concept of contracts and handshakes 🤝 .
When I searched for the first contract (covenant), it was found in the book of Genesis 2:15-17.
The first partnership was in the book of Genesis. So were these concepts called Dominion, Seed, and Life.
When looking at Genesis chapter 1, God demonstrates Dominion. He creates things with words by saying, “Let there be, and it was created.
God creates seed with the ability to contain and produce life. In every seed is the blueprints for life, Genesis 1:12, “…whose seed is in itself”
Life is an eternal power source, from Genesis 2:7, where God forms man’s body from the dust of the ground. Gid breathed the breath of LIFE into Adam’s nostrils, and man became a “living soul”
To Genesis 2:10, a river came out of Eden to water the Garden. The river was divided into four rivers that flowed into the earth
To Revelation 22:1 where a pure river of water of life proceeding from the throne of God watered the tree of life.
In John 4:10-14, the gift of God is living water; water that has life in it that satisfies every thirst.
John 7:37-38, rivers of living water
John 5:26, the Father has “life” in himself and given to the Son to have “life” in himself
We never understood this stuff called life and how it works. We can see examples of it when we sow seed into the ground, and it becomes a plant that produces fruit. Or a sperm seed can produce a human baby.
This stuff called life heals a human body, making it grow.
What we don’t understand is the spiritual components of life and how it works.
For example, God created the heavens and the earth by speaking words.
He didn’t stop there, He told us, John 1:1-4
“In the BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the BEGINNING with God. ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; AND WITHOUT him was not anything MADE that was MADE. In him was LIFE; and the LIFE was the LIGHT of men.”
Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit of thereof.”
Your words, spoken out of your mouth, become seeds that will produce a harvest, whether it’s positive or negative. Why
Because the same power source that God has in himself, he has put in you
The Father hath life in himself, given the Son hath life in himself, John 5:26
“AND THIS IS THE RECORD, THAT GOD HATH GIVEN US ETERNAL LIFE, AND THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON” 1 John 5:11
Don’t let the word “eternal” confuse you. The word ETERNAL simply describes what LIFE is and does. It is eternal in its results.
John goes on to say,
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:12
God always gives an example of life and how it works. For example, Jesus said, “My words are spirit and life”, John 6:63
1 John 1:1-2, The Word of Life was manifested, his disciples heard it, they saw it with their eyes, they looked upon it and their hands handled it.
Life can be mastered. See James 1:12
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of his flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ” Galatians 6:7-8
