1 John 3:8
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
The devil sinned from the beginning. He lied to Adam and Eve. He is the source of all pain and sorrow.
Eve tells us precisely what happened. God asked her
“And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” Genesis 3:13
The serpent deceived her, and she did eat. How did Adam sin? Adam received the fruit from Eve’s hand. Adam wasn’t deceived. Adam ate by choice.
“For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in transgression.” 1 Timothy 2:13-14
The serpent knew precisely what was about to happen. The serpent challenged God’s sovereignty.
What the serpent didn’t know was that by acting against God’s plan, it was the beginning of the end for him.
According to Revelation 20:1-2, he will be imprisoned in a bottomless pit for 1000 years. After his imprisonment, he will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.
