God foretold the defeat of the Serpent in Genesis 3:15
God said to the Serpent, “The seed of the woman shall bruise thy head.”
The definition of “bruise” as used in scripture carries the meaning of being overwhelmed, to snap, and break.
If you follow this seed through scripture, you will see it started with a promise to Abraham and Sarah. God made a covenant with them. He took a ninety-nine-year-old man. He took a barren ninety-year-old woman. He gave them the strength to bring forth a son. He called him Issac, which means laughter. God gave them land and seed that became a blessing to all people.
Jesus, the seed of the woman, appeared. He taught them the kingdom and what partnership looks like. In Luke 10, he illustrated. He saw Satan fall from heaven like lightening.
The Trap
If the princes of this world had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
That He would set free the human race from eternal damnation and slavery to Satan
He presented himself, the right time in history. The Roman yoke was cruel
He won the hearts of the people. His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, to fulfill the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9:
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
He cleansed the temple, He turned their tables over and drove out the herd. He sat and taught the people.
God put a Judas on his team. Jesus said, “Have I not chosen you and one of you is a devil.”
God did all this to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring nothing the understanding of the prudent.
“For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, the wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:22-24
