Church Closes Down

St. Christopher Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan, will close permanently this Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Catholic church leadership said the cause was low attendance, dwindling membership, and the rising cost of maintenance.

The Catholic Church once had a membership of a million, now 900,000, and half of them attend mass.

They said, they hope the building doesn’t become a blight to the community.

This is a trend across denominations. Older members are dying off.

The dangers of churches shutting down include the spiritual vacuum that will result.

The cumulative vacuum will occur as congregations are shuttered, and prayer services and Bible studies are no longer held.

Some services are being held online. However, on-site services will no longer be available, which means that corporate services will also be unavailable.

Shifting Emphasis

When people are no longer coming to the table, get ready for an attack from the enemy. In the five years I have been attending prayer meetings, only two people have been present. There, in most cases, have been no developments, no growth in churches.

In this present generation, single mothers are the head of households. She may have seven kids by seven different fathers.

Drug use is epidemic. You can smell the strong odor of marijuana on the highways and in communities. Apostle Peter warned us of these days in 1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
