Visitation I

Time for Visitation

Hebrews chapter 5 verses 8 through 12

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; CALLED of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not strong meat.”

First principles of the oracles of God

The first principles of the oracles of God is a concept that you can trace the origination of everything back to the beginning. In the sense of Melchisedec who was a high priest and king who meet Abraham after God had given him victory over the kings. The ministry of Melchisedec can be traced back to Adam. We are able to trace the beginnings of all things back to the first three chapters of the book of Genesis.

In Genesis chapter three verse 8, we have an event called the visitation that takes place in verse 8. Much thought is not given to this event however it was a pre-arranged meeting at specific place. We know the voice of the LORD God came walking in the cool of the day. Adam wasn’t at the arranged meeting place. They were hiding out among the trees in the garden.

My thoughts are, they were among the trees of the garden trying to find a cure for the wounds that broke out in their bodies after having ate the fruit. They saw that they were naked and sewed fig leaves together to make aprons. For many years, I thought that the purpose of the fig leaves was something they put together to cover their nakedness. But further study suggest that they were making bandages to heal the wounds that came about as a result of eating the forbidden fruit. They were trying to medicate themselves. Adam knew something about the healing properties of the leaves.

Ezekiel chapter 47 verses 12 and Revelation chapter 22 verse 2 says that there is supernatural medicine in the leaves that will heal the wounds of the nations. The word “aprons” is found twice in the Bible, once in Genesis chapter three verse 7 and Acts chapter 19 verses 11 through 12. The book of Acts chapter 19 verse 12 says that aprons were taken from the body of apostle Paul and laid upon the sick and they were healed and evil spirits came out of them. If Adam had been in the right place at the appointed time fulfilling his assignment, none of the things which transpired after the original sin would have never occurred.

What is so unique about visitation?

God has rebooted the system. There has been a restoration of the Garden of Eden. There are appointed times of God visiting with man. One of the obvious example of the day of visitation is in Luke chapter 19 verses 41 through 44. The thought that stands out here is when Jesus said,

“And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, if thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; BECAUSE THOU KNEWEST NOT THE TIME OF THY VISITATION.”

If you go back to Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 through 31, you will find that everything God created was described as good or very good. Everything produced on the scale of a hundred fold. Everything was self-sustaining. For example, take the human body, it is self-sustaining in terms of heart beat, breathing on its own, it heals itself… Adam was given everything. God created Adam to enjoy the bounty of the work of his hands. God gave Adam dominion over all the works of his hands, See Genesis chapter 1 verse 28. God gave him all seed and trees which are supernatural in themselves.

God is still into visitation,

He visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for his name, see Acts chapter 15 verse 14. Grace and peace.

The day spring on high hath visited us, See Luke Chapter 1 verse 78

Grace and Peace!

The Call

Before we understand the importance of the call, we have to understand what preceded the call, why the call is so important. We have to remember the original design and pattern because God never changes his ways. His ways are perfect.

In Genesis 3, Adam was hiding in the midst of the trees of the garden from the presence of the LORD. Adam realized he did something wrong and he was trying to hide the evidence. God calls out to Adam

What is so amazing about the call, it never goes away, no matter how dark the forest gets because of the trees, it never hides you from the voice of God calling out to you.

I always misunderstood the call of God with the calling to ministry. I thought that way for years. The calling of God goes much more deeper than that.

Genesis 3:8-9

“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?”

Adam was missing from the agreed upon place and time for a visitation from God. We fail to understand the significance of the calling of God because we compare the natural physical realm of realities to the spiritual realm of realities. In the natural physical realm, if we miss a scheduled appointment we either reschedule or cancel the meeting.

But in the spiritual realm of realities, when Adam was not at the appointed place, at the appointed time; God called out, Adam where are you? God was calling Adam to the meeting place.

We confuse the calling of God to the meeting place with the call to worship or the call to prayer.

There is a difference between visitation and the calling. In Genesis 3, God was conducting a visitation. The writer of Psalms 8:3-4, says such a visit was an awesome privilege compared to the rest of creation.

Psalms 8:3-4 (KJV)

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

God comes to visit with man instead of man coming to God. This is comparable to the CEO of a major corporation coming to meet with personally with the firm’s janitor. In reality what transpired in the garden was God calling Adam back into position.

I know this calling of God back into place may not seem like much to a lot of people but there is so much connected to you hearing and responding to the call.

There is something so much deeper that transcends any and everything that we think is more important than the call

Ephesians 2:15-18

“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of your calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.”

There is a calling back into place but it is going to take revelation and wisdom to walk in it. Revelation in the sense that God gives us insight into his original plans and purpose. Wisdom in the sense that God gives us the ability to apply these principles in the midst of the pressures and demands of the day.

There is an inheritance that goes with the calling. According to Jesus, you may say, I’m rich and have need of nothing, but in reality, you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. Jesus said,

“I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see.” Revelation 3:18

Again, there is that voice calling out…

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
