Distraction

Distraction

There are so many distractions. Everywhere you look, there is a distraction. The government shutdown was a significant distraction that consumed the nation’s attention, alongside the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Terrorism in Nigeria, civil unrest in Mexico, just to name a few.

The First Distraction

The first ever distraction occurred in Genesis 3:1-6. The serpent refocused the woman’s attention on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He convinced her, contrary to the will of God, to eat the forbidden fruit, and that by eating it, she would become like God.

This momentary distraction opened a door to devastation unimaginable at the time. All distractions are strategic.

The first universal law of creation

The first universal law of creation is that God created all things. All things were made by him, and without him, outside of him, nothing was made or could exist.

  1. There is nothing made that he did not make, John 1:3, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that made.”
  2. He is the original Architect, Hebrews 3:4, ‘Every house is build by some man, but he who built all things is God
  3. Everything God made was certified as very good, perfect, as stated in Genesis 1:31. The system is perfect.
  4. There’s nothing beyond that that is new. There is nothing new under the sun, according to Ecclesiastes 1:9-10. It’s already been done before.
  5. Man’s system: There is no remembrance of former things. There shall be no remembrance of things to come with the things that shall follow. He keeps on repeating the same mistakes.
  6. In this present reality of the knowledge of good and evil, everything is twisted out of its intended purpose.
  7. Jesus prayed, Keep them from evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of this world, John 17
  8. Why does evil exist? It was never God’s will for humanity to know good and evil. At the beginning of Adam and Eve’s creation, they didn’t know that they were naked. Eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil was a choice

-The First Distraction took place in the Garden of Eden. The serpent caught the woman’s attention. She ate the forbidden fruit, which was their sacrifice, and then gave it to her husband. He ate it. First, distraction, then distortion, and finally terror.

Distraction comes through an agency of the devil. Watch out for distractions.

-The first currency is seed and fruit trees. The currency of man’s system is mammon, or the worship of money. You cannot serve God and mammon. Many are distracted in this area of life.

-The first judgment, Genesis 3:9-20. God judges every man’s work.

-The first system of creation is still being enforced

The First Collection Center was located at the base of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam was supposed to dress the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by arranging a sacrifice at its base, a sacrifice of obedience.

Man’s Collection Center: People are trained by the system to bring their sacrifices to mammon into a financial system.

Israel was commanded by God to bring their tithe, a 10th of their labor as a sacrificial offering into the temple, the place of worship. They were on God’s land, enjoying the provision of God’s blessing. Just as Adam was commanded to offer up the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as a sacrifice

The New Covenant fulfilled the  Adamic Covenant made in the Garden of Eden after the fall of man: Genesis 3:15, The seed of the woman shall crush the head of the serpent

In this new covenant, Christ, the second Adam, has given every person the measure of faith and grace. The decision to receive salvation is a personal and individual choice.

God created everything with skin and coats. For example, Peacock feathers grow out of his skin, and its feathers are a bird’s coat. His coat is a representation of its glory. For example, a bird’s feathers are a representation of its glory.

The first man and woman were crowned in glory and honor. They were naked and not ashamed. After the fall of man, God clothed them in coats of animal skins, Genesis 3:21.

Jacob made Joseph a coat of many colors

God gives man white linen in this age of grace through the gift of righteousness. For example, in Revelation 3:18, Jesus said, ‘Buy of me white raiment that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness do not appear.’

Finally, Revelation 22:2 states that the leaves of the tree of life shall be for the healing of the nations. Adam took the leaves of the trees in the garden and made aprons to cover himself.

Wouldn’t fruit from the tree of life be enough to give eternal life? Or could our new clothing be clothing made from tree leaves?

God never walked away from his original creation because it was perfect.

Rich rules over the poor

Proverbs 22:7

“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”

There is nothing new under the sun

Ecclesiastes 1:10, “Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.”

Each generation falls for the same schemes

Ecclesiastes 1:11, “There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that come after.”

The same lie that was told in Genesis 3:1-7 is the same lie that has been sold to all people throughout history

Revelation 12:9, says that serpent of old, who is called the Devil and Satan deceives the whole world.

God never changes, still gives

God gave Adam dominion, seed, and fruit trees in Genesis, chapter 1

He ministers seed to sowers, and gives bread for our food. He multiplies the seed we sow and increases the fruit of the harvest.

HE MINISTERS SEEDS TO MEET YOUR NEEDS AND DESIRES. He knows the needs and desires of our hearts. Psalms 37:4, Delight yourself in the LORD and he shall give you the desires of your heart. He doesn’t just give seed; he ministers seed.

Gifts equal enablement

God enabled apostle Paul to minister to the nations out of the gift of grace, Ephesians 3:7

He gives the gift of Christ to every person, Ephesians 4:7

He gives an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness,

He gives every person the measure of faith and the gift of grace, Romans 12:3

In Matthew 25:14-30, in one of the parables of the kingdom. He gave talents to each of his servants according to their ability to use them in trading and make a profit for the kingdom of God.

This is a fulfillment of Genesis 3:15, the seed of the woman bruising the serpent’s head.

How I paid for college

I was twenty years old, walking across the Mojave Desert, near 29 Palms, California. I was in the Marine Corps, training with the 14th Marine Regiment. I prayed to the Heavenly Father. I said, I want to go to college, but I know my parents can’t afford to send me. And He said to me, ‘Do not worry, I have already made a way for you to go to college.’

Upon completing my enlistment, I became eligible for vocational rehabilitation benefits from the VA. This covered the cost of college tuition, books, supplies, and provided a monthly stipend of $300.00 back in 1984.

Back during that season in my life, I was a tither, a giver. I was developing faith in God’s system. I had been tithing since I was 10. I had a job shining shoes in my father’s shoe repair business. Shoe shines cost .50 cents, and sometimes I would get generous tips from customers. I tithed 10% of my shoe shine earnings before, during, and after my military service.

I have witnessed God’s blessings in my life. What I didn’t know at that time was that there is a distinction between the natural world system and the kingdom of God. I was operating out of both systems. In other words, stuck between two systems. I was borrowing money instead of mastering the seed.

God illustrated his system time and again in the Bible, from giving dominion, seed, and fruit trees to being the sole provider for three million people in the desert.

The Company Store

The powerful message behind “Sixteen Tons” is that just as the coal miners were held in lifetime bondage through debt to their the coal mining  companies, we are enslaved through debt to the governmental  and economic system in which we live. It controls everything we do and even our choices.

The government shutdown was a distraction

The government shutdown gave the appearance that the Democratic Party was fighting for Medicare subsidies. The truth is that the decision not to fund Medicare was already made before the government shutdown. The government down gave the illusion that a fight way made for healthcare subsidies.

Resources are being pulled out of the system

Resources are being sucked out of the economy into the hands of the wealthy.

Proverbs 22:7, the rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant zo the lender.”

Those who borrow come under the control of those who lend to them. The borrower gave up their future resources by borrowing now to pay later. The borrower pays to be part of the system.

The president stated that trillions of dollars are being generated for the government through tariffs. The truth is, tariffs are a tax on the people. Price increases are causing a cash outflow in many quarters of society, funneling money into the coffers of the government and the wealthy who control the majority of the wealth.

A Different Perspective

The Bible states that the Pharisees were attempting to find a reason to trap Jesus in his words. They ask him whether it was lawful to pay taxes. Jesus responded by asking for a coin, noting it had the image of Caesar on it. This was a complicated issue for Jesus. Either way, yes or no, Jesus was coming against powerful political forces. If he said yes, then the Pharisees would accuse him of siding with the oppressor of the Jewish people. If he said no, they would accuse him of income tax evasion.

Jesus responded, ‘Give back to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.’ Give to God what belongs to God.

The Kingdom of God

God’s government is perfect. God’s system is perfect. In Genesis 1:31, God certified that everything that was made was very good. The created order is perfect. It produces 30, 60, or 100 times more. The problem is, we have been deceived into using debt instead of seed. We have been educated to operate in a capitalist system in place of the kingdom of God.

They are not of this world system

There is a powerful prayer in John 17, particularly verses 16 & 17, that  Jesus prayed for his disciples. He said, ‘They are not of this world, even as I am not of this world; keep them from evil.’ What did he mean? Jesus lived in the world but operated independently of its systems. For example, he fed seven thousand people from two fish and five loaves of bread. He healed all those who came to him for help.

Colossians 1:12, We have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of his dear Son.

You can not serve God and money

Jesus created the system. All things were created by him and for him, Colossians 1:15-19,

Jesus created the spiritual and natural order of things (John 1:1-4). In him is life (an infinite power source on an unimaginable scale)

The Word was made flesh (John 1:14)

He is the Word of Life (1 John 1:1-5), the message and messenger of life

Jesus taught that you cannot serve both God and money. For you, either love one and hate the other. Or you hold to one and despise the other. There are a lot of people who love God, but they are enslaved to money.

For the love of money is the root of all evil, 1 Timothy 6:10.

Jesus said,

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

The question is not about being a responsible steward over the resources entrusted to you. It is biblical to have a savings account and save toward retirement. The question is, what do you treasure? What do you worship? What do you obey? Who do you follow?

The kingdom of God

In Luke 12:31-34, Jesus said,  ‘Seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your is, there will your heart be also.”

It is the kingdom of God that is the treasure. It is learning how the kingdom operates. Jesus said, ‘Sell that which you have. Give and be a blessing to others. You will have treasure in heaven. Those treasures are not limited to finance. It includes healing, deliverance, mercy, right standing with God, grace and the gift of life among other benefits.

The Difference between kingdom provision and your paycheck

In John 6, Great multitudes followed Jesus in those days. Jesus, testing Philip, asked, Where can we buy bread to feed them? Jesus already knew what he would. Philip said, ‘A year’s wage or a small fortune is not enough to feed all these people.’

Peter said, ‘Here is a little boy who has five barley loaves of bread and two small fishes, but what are they among so many?

Jesus took the bread and fish. He prayed over them and blessed them. He gave them to his disciples to pass out. Everyone eats and is filled. They took up twelve baskets full of fragments that were left over!

Jesus modelled the kingdom

The kingdom of God is the original system that God established at the beginning, as described in Genesis 1-2. It is God’s blessing on man. God gave Adam dominion over creation.

When you are operating in God’s kingdom with God’s blessing on; it will take out of dependency on man’s system.

Jesus cursed a fig tree that died from the roots up in 24 hours. Peter called attention to the fig. Jesus said, Have faith in God. He said, they could speak to a mountain, and it would obey them.

Jesus said, ‘The works he did, we would do and greater, because he was going to the Father.’

The Problem

Jesus said, It is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. People don’t understand this because they have experience in working with God. They don’t understand that God works in partnership based on a covenant.

The problem is, there is no experience in the kingdom. When I was in the military, I was utterly immersed in military life. I was honorably discharged, and a few years later, I was still worrying about missing formation.

I know people who retired from military service. These people’s lives were consumed with military plans and purposes. When they leave the service, they often struggle to adapt to civilian life. They start over, having to adapt to a new way of life.

To function in kingdom life, you have to learn the ways of God. It takes years of growth and development. To achieve this, you are going to make mistakes. There will be seasons of struggles, growth, and development.

Jesus said, ‘Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness (his way of doing things). For example, Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice by which he obtained witness from God that he was righteous, God testifying about his offering. Abel gave God what was required, and God rewarded him.

People been trained in the system of man from five years of age

In our educational system, education begins in kindergarten. A newborn Jewish baby is circumcised into the covenant of Abraham at the age of eight days old. Then we ascend higher levels of education, indoctrination and debt to the system.

We live our lives controlled by a credit score. This score predicts how well you manage debt. People submit themselves to the masters of debt.

True source of dominion

Genesis 1:26, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion

Your base of power is not something you get or something you exercise because the system of man delegated to you.

The people recognized that Jesus taught with authority. The Pharisees recognize that Jesus has authority, and they ask him, ‘By what authority and by whose authority you do these things?’

The answer to this question is that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, Acts 10:38

Your base of power comes from the dominion God invested in you at birth and developed over a lifetime. It comes from the gifts and calling of God. He that anointed us is God, 1 Corinthians 1:21

The difference between heavenly provision and your paycheck is a miracle!
