Broken Cisterns

“For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold mo eaters.” Jeremiah 2:13 (KJV)

I went to Selfridge Air Force Base yesterday and later to Veterans Hospital to update my ID. In both places, people sought government assistance.

In some cases, people were denied what they sought and became angry and frustrated with the system.

We are living in a highly charged time. People need resources to maintain a normal life. They may have to work two or three jobs to put food on the table.

God’s promise

Philippians 4:19, ‘My God shall suppy all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus!’

The problem

People have never learned the system God created to supply their needs. I have always been amazed at how people can sit at a cash register for hours waiting for money. I had a co-worker tell how people who play the slot machines at a casino wear diapers so no one can benefit from all the money they put in the slots.

You must labor to enter God’s rest, Hebrews 4:11

FIGHT THE Good fight of FAITH

You have to work the system. When Israel came out of Egypt, they had to fight for the promised land.

God planted two trees

The System

God planted two unique trees among many in the Garden of Eden.

The difference between the trees of the Garden of Eden and the earth is that they had supernatural abilities. The fruit of the tree of life could give eternal life. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil could alter reality producing death.

Both trees are still with us. Jesus restored the Tree of Life. All of the functions of the Garden of Eden has been restored.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)

The heavenly places are not a new creation. It is the Garden of Eden. The apostle Paul says that God has restored all of the spiritual functions of the Garden of Eden.

Healing

One of the benefits of the Garden of Eden is healing. For example, Adam and Eve used the leaves of the trees as bandages. God left plenty of clues in scripture to prove this point. In Revelation 22:3, He said the leaves are for the healing of the nations.

We don’t have to go up to heaven to get any of its benefits. God has made all of the benefits of Eden available to us through his Son Jesus Christ.

Promise

Jesus said, ‘Ask, and you shall receive. Knock, and the door shall be open. Seek, and you shall find.’ Matthew 7:7

He said I am the bread of life.

Just a thought

If Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) were gold or 100 dollar bills, how much of this promise would become reality, seeing Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a seed sown in the earth?

In other words, what we sow is what we reap.

Timeline

Timelines

-The first day of creation through the seventh day of creation is a timeline.

-The fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3, until the flood of Noah’s day. Adam’s generations came to an end.

“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened.” Genesis 7:11 (KJV)

-and it rained 40 days

Genesis 5 sums up Adam’s generations.

Genesis, Chapter 6 details the harvest of those generations—great evil in the earth. Every thought of the imagination of their heart was only evil. There was great violence on the planet.

Judgment

Man’s lifespan was cut to 120 years, Genesis Genesis 6:3

God shares his plans with Noah to destroy everything that had the breath of life. He gave Noah a blueprint to bring him through the flood.

Reward

Noah, his family, and those animals on the ark came through the judgment. God removed the curse from the ground. He made a covenant with Noah and his family, including the animals from the ark. God’s signature, the rainbow, is still present in heaven over God’s throne in Revelation chapter 4:3. The first thing Noah did when they got off the ark was offer a sacrifice (Genesis 8:20). God was pleased, and he reversed the curse!

Lesson

Seed time harvest is the principle process of the created order.

  • In God’s system, seed is sown and in time it becomes a harvest.
  • Sacrifice is a principle part of the harvest. Adam and Eve ate theit harvest.

There is another judgment looming

In Genesis 2, God planted two trees in the Garden of Eden. In Revelation 22, One tree becomes the Lamb of God seated on the throne of God

We can trace the timelines from Genesis through to Revelation.

Takeaway fact: instead, it was Adam, Noah, or anything in between; it was about the sacrifice. We don’t get to choose the sacrifice. Cain’s rejection was in the sacrifice he decided to give; God alone designates the acceptable sacrifice.

Revelation 22:1

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God, and of the Lamb.”
